Runny nose

Runny nose is a common and troublesome condition affecting people of all ages. People's wisdom says that the treated cataract lasts for a week, and untreated for seven days, as every one of us has convinced. Qatar is the most common symptom of viral infection that will show up with reduced immunity. The medications used in this ailment are preparations to alleviate symptoms, e.g. nasal drops.
Causes and symptoms of runny nose
Runny nose is the most common symptom of benign viral infections, so-called colds that attack us at any time of the year in states of reduced immunity. There are many viruses that cause a similar picture of the disease, which consists of except rhinitis:
  • weakness,
  • feeling of shattering,
  • sneezing,
  • tearing,
  • low-grade fever.
Runny nose may also have a bacterial etiology. Then there is a yellow or green, thicker secretion accompanied by a fever, a feeling of "blocked nose", facial pains suggest acute inflammation of the paranasal sinuses, which are treated primarily with antibiotics.
Prolonged runny nose or often recurrent may have an allergic basis. Allergic rhinitis, otherwise known as hay fever, can occur seasonally and is then associated with dusting plants or regardless of the flowering period, as a reaction to dust allergens, animal dander and dust mites present in the environment. For the rhinitis, antihistamines are used in these cases, and contact with sensitizing substances is recommended.
Important! Long-lasting rhinitis can also be one of the symptoms of chronic rhinosinusitis.
Treatment of cold
Nasal secretion is often abundant, watery or mucous, transparent.
Cirical infections are not treated with antibiotics, but symptom-relieving drugs are used. The rhinitis can be used in such situations:
  • agents that shrink the blood vessels of the nasal mucous membrane,
  • medicines that reduce swelling and secretion.
Such preparations are most commonly available in the form of drops, gels or tablets. Those containing, for example, xylometazoline or oxymetazoline should be discontinued after 4-5 days, maximally after one week, in order to avoid side effects.
Oral preparations with pseudoephedrine or phenylephrine (though available without a prescription), have numerous contraindications and it is worth consulting a doctor or pharmacist before buying them.
The following methods also help the rhinitis:
- nasal moisturizing with saline solutions or seawater,
- reducing the temperature in the bedroom and increasing the humidity of the air with the help of special humidifiers,
- inhalations using essential oils or using menthol nasal sticks.
